H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been briefed in his office this Wednesday by the Minister of Roads and Bridges Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak on the progress of the construction projects of the roads across the Country.

In his remarks to the media after the meeting, Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak said, he discussed with H.E. President Salva Kiir the progress of upgrading the construction project of Juba- Rumbek highway that was put on hold for review after it was washed away by a heavy downpour, Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak said, the technical team are reviewing the contract design and quality of the road project and they are soon finalizing their work.

On the other hand, Hon. Simon said, the construction project of Juba-Bor highway is progressing well and he informed H.E. President Salva Kiir on the new strategy to upgrade the Juba–Bor road project.

The Minister of Roads also said, the Japanese team constructing Freedom Bridge informed the Ministry that they will be coming back to resume their work that was put on hold due to Coronavirus.

Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak also highlighted to H.E. Salva Kiir, the preparation of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges to launch new Jur River bridge being constructed by Chinese company.

In conclusion, Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak said, the government is working hard in the maintainance of feeder roads in all the States and Administrative areas to ease the movement of people and goods.

Addressing the officials shortly after the swearing in ceremony, H.E, President Salva Kiir Mayardit appealed to the incoming Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Dier Tong Ngor to work hard with his colleagues from the banking system and the concerned institutions to stabilize the market price.

H.E, President Salva Kiir said, it is upon all of us to work collectively as a team to recover the economy that has been affected by the external factors. In addition, H.E, President Salva Kiir has appealed to Honorable Governor Dier Tong Ngor to always consult with his colleagues and concerned institutions for advice on how to address the issues that he cannot solve on his own.

In his remarks, Hon. Dier Tong Ngor emphasized that, he will work closely with the Office of the President, Financial Institutions and all the stakeholders to ensure that the Bank of South Sudan plays its primary role to stabilize the market price. Dier Tong added that, he has worked for decades in the bank and the only way he can serve the people of South Sudan is, by providing his services into the banking system.

The Deputy Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Daniel Kech Pouch appreciated H.E, President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his decision to re-appoint Dier Tong Ngor as the new Governor of the Bank of South Sudan.

In his remarks to the media after the meeting, Hon. Denay Jock Chagor said, H.E, President Salva Kiir Mayardit is concerned about the situation of the people affected by floods and has urged the relevant institutions to provide support and humanitarian assistance to the affected population.

Hon. Denay Chagor further said that most of the areas in Jonglei State are affected by the floods and has urged the Government to pay more attention to vulnerable people.

In addition, Hon. Denay Jock Chagor said that the people of Jonglei State are calling for the formation of the State local government as soon as possible to help in the running of the State’s affairs and H.E,  President Salva Kiir is optimistic that the State Governments shall be fully Reconstituted very soon.

The meeting discussed the progress of the implementation of Revitalized Peace Agreement and Humanitarian issues in South Sudan.

In his remarks to the media after the meeting, UK Minister for Africa, Mr. James Duddridge said, UK is concerned of the humanitarian situation and status of Famine in South Sudan.

James Duddridge added that, UK has provided South Sudan with humanitarian assistance of 8 million British Pounds Sterling to support the victims affected by floods due to the heavy rains.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Beatrice Khamisa Wani said, the meeting discussed the progress made and still to be made on the implementation of the Revitized Peace Agreement.

Beatrice Khamisa added that, they also touched on the issue of Upper Nile State Governor, stating that no concrete breakthrough has been made but there is hope that it will be resolved soon.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit received the Special Envoy of France to South Sudan and Sudan Jean-Michel Dumond. The France 's Special Envoy delivered a message of congratulations from President Emmanuel Macron to President Salva Kiir for the recently signed Sudanese Juba Peace Agreement on 3rd October 2020.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Deng Dau Deng said that the President of France, Emmanuel Macron extended his message of Congratulations to his South Sudanese Counterpart President Salva Kiir for successfully mediating the Peace Agreement of Sudan.

Deng Dau added that, the meeting also discussed the progress of the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement as well as the Sudanese Peace Agreement.

On his part, Emmanuel Macron's Special Envoy, Jean-Michel Dumond said that the Government of France pledges it's full support to the Government of South Sudan to implement the Peace agreement of South Sudan and Sudan.

In addition, Jean-Michel said, they discussed the support of France's Government to help South Sudan through UN Security Council to ensure that the sanctions on South Sudan are lifted for the the smooth implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo said that they discussed with President Salva Kiir the ways for the implementation of the Sudan's Juba Peace Agreement as well as the implementation of South Sudan Revitalized Peace Agreement.

Mohamed Hamdan added that the parties that signed the Juba Peace Agreement on 3rd October are ready to implement the agreement for stability to prevail in the Sudan.

The head of the Mediation Committee for Sudan's Peace, Tut Gatluak Manime said that they also discussed arrangements for the second phase of Sudan's Peace which includes, continuing the negotiations with the holdout groups of SPLM-North of General Abdel Aziz Adam al-Hilu and SLM of Abdel Wahid Nur to join the peace process.

The Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Mohamed Hamdan Daqlo signed the peace agreement for the Sudanese government, while leaders of nine opposition movements , under the Revolutionary Front Alliance, signed for the alliance.

During the Ceremony, President Salva Kiir was honored with an international peace award on good leadership and governance by the Universal Peace Federation for mediating the Peace for Sudan.

The Sudan's Transitional government of Sovereign Council and armed opposition groups on Saturday signed a final peace deal with the exception of two opposition groups of SPLM-North of General Abdel Aziz Adam al-Hilu and SLM of Abdel  Wahid Nur.

The launching of the website was inaugurated by the Minister of Presidential affairs Nhial Deng Nhial, Deputy Minister of information and Communication Baba Medan, Chief Administrator in the Office of the President Paul Polo Ongee, Executive Director in the Office of the President James Deng Wal and the Press Secretary in the Office of the President Ateny Wek Ateny.

Speaking to the plenary gathering at the occasion, the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial, said this is the First step towards providing accurate information of what is transpiring in the Presidency regarding the country. Nhial Deng Nhial said, that he has no doubt that the website will contribute significantly towards providing accurate information to the citizens, Nhial Deng applauded the Press department in the office of the Presidency for their continuous tremendous regarding the media for the President.

President Salva Kiir met and held discussions with the newly accredited South Sudan Ambassadors to South Africa, Japan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Consul in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The purpose of the meeting was for the newly accredited South Sudan Ambassadors to the above-mentioned foreign missions to bid farewell to President Salva Kiir prior to their departure to their areas of assignments.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit with the IGAD Special envoy to South Sudan, Ismail Wais in a meeting attended by the Minister of Foreign affairs and international cooperation Beatrice Khamisa wani at the State House on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Of Foreign affairs Beatrice Khamisa said, they discussed dissolution of the current TNLA and reconstitution of the new TNLA in accordance with the R-ARCSS. President Salva Kiir Mayardit received a summary report from the committee set up by the Ministry of Roads and Bridges to review the design and construction of Juba - Terekeka - Yirol- Rumbek Road, also known as Bhar el Ghazal Highway.

The Bahr el Ghazal Highway review report was submitted to President Salva Kiir at his residence on Tuesday by the Minister of Roads and Bridges, Simon Mijok Mijak.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Minister of Roads and Bridges, Simon Mijok Mijak outlined that the report focused on the challenges, design, contractual agreement and the capability of the implementing company.

Simon Mijok Mijak said, the report has been given to President Salva Kiir for further directives in regards to Juba Bahr el Ghazal Highway. Simon added that, the construction of other highways is going well, and they further discussed balancing the development of the roads in the country.

Minister of Presidential Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial met with the French Ambassador to South Sudan, Marc Trouyet in his office on Monday .

In his remarks to the media after the meeting, Ambassador Marc outlined that the Government of France is pleased of the positive steps taken by the Unity Government of South Sudan towards the implementation of the peace agreement.

The Ambassador further added that they also discussed the general situation of the country, most especially, the communal conflicts in Jonglei State. Marc Trouyet concluded that it is crucial for peace and stability to be brought to the communities of Jonglei State.
